Interactive Activities:
Our engaging activities are designed to make learning fun and effective. These include:

Natural Environment Teaching (NET):
Nature walks are a form of NET, which involves teaching skills in natural settings where they are most likely to be used. This approach helps children generalize skills across different environments1.

  • Sensory Integration: Walking in nature provides various sensory experiences, such as different textures, sounds, and sights, which can help improve sensory processing and integration1.

  • Physical Activity: Nature walks encourage physical activity, which is beneficial for overall health and can help reduce stress and anxiety1.

  • Social Interaction: These walks provide opportunities for social interactions, such as talking about what they see and experience, which can enhance communication skills.

Animal Assisted Interventions Motor Skills and Coordination:

Activities like animal walks (mimicking animal movements) can improve motor skills, coordination, and balance.

  • Sensory Processing: Interacting with animals can help children with sensory processing issues by providing calming and organizing sensory input.

  • Emotional Regulation: Animals can have a calming effect, helping children manage their emotions and reduce anxiety.

  • Social Skills: Caring for and interacting with animals can improve social skills, empathy, and nonverbal communication.

Both nature walks and animal Assisted Interventions offer holistic benefits, making learning more engaging and meaningful for children with autism. Integrating these activities into ABA therapy can enhance skill acquisition, generalization, and overall well-being.

Parental Involvement:
We believe in the power of collaboration and encourage parents to be active participants in their child’s educational journey.

We offer:

  • Regular Updates: Keeping parents informed about their child’s progress.

  • Workshops and Training: Providing resources and training to help parents support their child’s development at home.

ABA After-school Academy

Welcome to our unique after-school ABA Academy program, a different way to experience Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) in a naturalistic manner. In our program, children rotate through each of our specially designed themed rooms, all while working on their individual ABA goals. Children make their own unique schedule based on preferences. After-school starts- 2pm-6pm ages 3-13.

Our program is designed to meet the needs of each child. Children choose their choice of theme room throughout the day, spending about an hour in each room. However, the exact schedule can be adjusted based on the child’s progress and specific ABA goals. We believe in a personalized approach to ensure the best outcomes for every child.

At our Academy, children can experience different modalities, all integrated with ABA principles. This naturalistic approach allows children to learn and grow in an environment that mirrors the real world, making the transition of skills smoother and more effective.

Join us and experience the difference of an ABA-focused after-school program. We’re not just after-school care – we’re a community committed to helping children grow.

Here’s a closer look at each room:

Social-Emotional Room: This vibrant space is filled with games and books that encourage interaction and foster emotional understanding among peers. Our Behavior Technicians (BTs) guide children in group activities, promoting turn-taking, sharing, and empathy. ABA strategies are seamlessly integrated into these activities, with specific goals set for each session.

Art Room: Our Art Room is a creative haven where children can express themselves freely. Art projects are designed not just for fun, but also to meet specific ABA goals. For instance, a painting activity might aim to improve fine motor skills, while a group project could focus on cooperation and social interaction. Our BTs provide guidance and reinforcement, helping children achieve their goals while enjoying the creative process.

Adaptive Skills Room: This practical room focuses on teaching essential life skills. Activities range from dressing up dolls to setting a table, all designed to mimic real-life scenarios. Our BTs use ABA techniques to break down each skill into manageable steps, providing positive reinforcement as children master each part. The goal is to help children become more independent in their daily lives.

Sensory Room: This room is specially designed with various sensory stimuli, from soft lights to textured walls. It’s a safe space for children to explore their senses and learn how to manage sensory input. Our BTs guide children through different sensory experiences, using ABA strategies to help them respond appropriately to sensory stimuli.

One-on-One DTT Room: In this quiet and focused room, children receive individualized attention from our BTs. Using Direct Instruction Training (DTT), our BTs work on specific ABA goals that are tailored to the child’s needs. This could range from learning new words to understanding complex instructions.

Music and Movement Room: A vibrant sanctuary where children can express themselves without any constraints. The activities here are designed to meet specific ABA objectives.

Project-Based Learning (PBL) Science Room: This dynamic space is designed to ignite curiosity and foster a love for science through hands-on projects. Our Behavior Technicians (BTs) facilitate engaging activities that integrate ABA strategies to support each child’s learning and behavioral goals.

  • Exploration Stations: These stations are equipped with various scientific tools and materials, allowing children to conduct experiments and explore scientific concepts. Activities are tailored to individual goals, such as improving fine motor skills through handling lab equipment or enhancing communication skills by discussing observations with peers.

  • Group Projects: Collaborative projects encourage teamwork and social interaction. Children work together to solve scientific problems, build models, or conduct experiments. BTs guide the process, promoting turn-taking, sharing, and effective communication. ABA techniques are used to reinforce positive behaviors and ensure each child contributes to the group’s success.

  • Inquiry-Based Learning: Children are encouraged to ask questions and seek answers through investigation. BTs support this process by helping children formulate hypotheses, design experiments, and analyze results. This approach not only builds scientific knowledge but also fosters critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

  • Real-World Applications: Projects are designed to connect scientific concepts to real-world scenarios. For example, a project on plant growth might involve planting a garden, while a lesson on weather could include building a simple weather station. These activities help children understand the relevance of science in everyday life and develop practical skill.

Outdoor ABA-Based Centers: (Gardening, project-based learning) Our outdoor centers provide a naturalistic environment where children can engage in ABA activities while enjoying the benefits of nature. Outdoor sensory activities and structured play help improve physical health, social skills, and emotional regulation. Our BTs use the natural environment to create engaging and effective ABA sessions that mirror real-world experiences.

Nature walks are a form of NET: which involves teaching skills in natural settings where they are most likely to be used. This approach helps children generalize skills across different environments. Sensory Integration: Walking in nature provides various sensory experiences, such as different textures, sounds, and sights, which can help improve sensory processing and integration.

Physical Activity: Nature walks encourage physical activity, which is beneficial for overall health and can help reduce stress and anxiety. Social Interaction: These walks provide opportunities for social interactions, such as talking about what they see and experience, which can enhance communication skills.

Animal Assisted Interventions: Motor Skills and Coordination: Activities like animal walks (mimicking animal movements) can improve motor skills, coordination, and balance. Sensory Processing: Interacting with animals can help children with sensory processing issues by providing calming and organizing sensory input.

Emotional Regulation: Animals can have a calming effect, helping children manage their emotions and reduce anxiety. Social Skills: Caring for and interacting with animals can improve social skills, empathy, and nonverbal communication. Interaction with therapy animals, such as dogs or small pets, can help children develop prosocial behaviors, improve communication skills, and manage anxiety. Our BTs integrate ABA strategies with animal interactions to support each child’s individual goals.
